
Bill Porter, a contemporary American writer, translator, and renowned sinologist. After serving in the military, Bill went to the University of California to study anthropology. From 1970 to 1972, he received a PhD in anthropology from Columbia University. He went to Foguang Mountain in Taiwan with a scholarship from the United States in 1972 to settle down. In 1991, he worked in a radio station in Hong Kong. He has always lived in Taiwan and Hong Kong, often traveled in Chinese Mainland, and wrote a large number of books and travel notes about Chinese cultural relics. He has translated Buddhist classics Lengja Sutra, Bodhidharma Zen, poetry anthologies Cold Mountain Poetry, Shiwu Mountain Dwelling Poetry, and translated poems by Wang Wei and Wei Yingwu, It has sparked a wave of learning about traditional Chinese culture in various European and American countries.
